It is the perfect exercise to approach to the practice of the architect from non real projects to begin to see how our decisions have consequences in our concepts. That is, it is the subject that involves more disciplines of the architect .
Housing in Les Corts
first proposal
In this project we started to investigate how a residential building must be. For this the project had no environment. Our efforts did not have to focus on adapting to the environment, but yes in understanding how to materialize an apartment building and features that was to maintain. The project involves the formalization of a longitudinal block which contains three cantilever blocks. At the same time a set of apertures appear on the facade to lighten the mass and provide public spaces in the air.
We have to stress that at this stage of the career our knowledge of construction, structures and facilities was not too much, reason why the project is presented in a basic form.
Housing in Les Corts
second proposal
In this second part, after we did the investigation about how a residential building had to be, we started to work with the enviroment.
After all we learned in the last exercise, the objective was to apply all this knowledge to make a building in harmony with the enviroment.
The result consist in a building divided in two parts. The first one is a plinth where we find a ground floor with comercial store and a first floor with a set of a houses with garden, visuals and solar protection. The second part, as in the first exercise consist in a longitudinal block with a set of apertures to lighten the mass and provide public spaces in the air.
As the last exercise our knowledge about the construction and facilities was the same, for this reason, we detail the building at the same level as the last exercise.
Rustic house
In this project we designed the remodeling of a rural farmhouse, which belonged to the painter. The project is developed from different parts which are adapted to the existing building, which is characterized by tectonics materials. The solution to the problem is to change some of the existing parts of house with modern architectural elements that are implanted to the character of the existing and on the other way the construction of some houses that generate added outdoor spaces around the farmhouse. In this project, for the first time, we began to develop the technical architecture, which allowed us to enter to more realistic design.
Market in Eixample
In this project we design a singular morphology of architecture, located in one of the most complex urban plots in Barcelona and the world, the Cerdá plan. The market is develops from a structural and constructive system which composes all indoor and outdoor spaces. This is based in a metal structure which serves to define the structure of the envelope and a set of external pergolas. At the same time the project is implanted in the urban plot with the help of a park.
In this stage os the degree our technical knowledge was much hihger, we can start to see a merge between the concept design and the constructive design.
Islamic Center in Paral·lel
This Project is located in the parallel street, it consist in the construction of a cultural public building, a mosque. This is implanted in the urban context by aligning facade and a central courtyard. The building is a game between concrete, glass and exterior wood slats. As in the previous project this concept is supported by a study in construction, structure and facilities
Shopping center in Lleida
This project is located in Lleida and consists of the design of the first major shopping center of the town. This is located at the end of one of the larger shopping streets of Spain, allowing to provide a finale to this. The project works with the topography of the place to adapt to their environment and at the same time creates a set of paths that rise to the top of the topography. On the other way a large square is also generated at the front as a public space. In this project our technical knowledge began to be advanced, which allowed us to develop some of the construction details, structure and provision for facilities.
Nautic club
In this work we begin to see the culmination of five years of degree. This project involves the construction of a Nautic Club in Lisbon, in which we work the idea of shaping the urban space through architecture. An architecture developed from the point of construction, structure, facilities... A project where you begin to see a confluence of all knowledge developed.
